Additional Christmas Cheer

Dear Colin-

Two more days til I get to see your face!  As an update, I feel the same as I have all week--awful.  Runny, stuffy nose, coughing up all sorts of nasty, and so tired it's all I can do to work on my papers.  And what do I choose to do instead?  Write to you!

I wanted to share some of my favorite scenes from season 10 of friends- they have seen me through these last two months, helping me smile when I'm not with you. :)

"Can you believe it?! I've never had any professional dance training!"

I. Love. It.  Almost as much as I love you.

Christmas Cheer

Dear Colin,

We are both sick.  We are both not enjoying this last week apart.  And we both have things to do that we don't want to deal with in this sicky haze filling our heads.  However, with a visit from our home teachers and a friendly text from Emily, I decided to make a list of all the things that bring Christmas cheer!

Happiness is:
- being able to breathe out of your nose
- listening to Christmas music all day
- walking into the living room and finding your tree all lit up and twinkling
- watching re-runs of Friends
- being able to eat a salad without getting nauseous
- watching a thousand gallons of jet fuel burn
- finding pictures like this of you :)

- getting to sleep in
- accidentally wearing your underwear inside out all day
- Christmas cookie magazines
- sweaters and hot chocolate
- Mormon messages about Christmas
- only 2 more papers to write til the official end of the semester
- only 3 more days til I get to see your face!

I miss you- I hope you feel better- I love you

being crafty

Dear Colin-

Remember this I Love Lucy episode?

I feel like this when I work on the dress I'm sewing... I hope it turns out better than Lucy's does.  We shall see.

Dear Colin-

My sister shared the link to this- and I thought of you--

What says Merry Christmas more than a Legos Star Wars nativity?

comfort

Dear Colin-

Two more weeks til you are done with this training.  14 days.

When you left, I had to find things that were comforting--as the initial separation is one of the hard parts. (the week after is hard, the week before I get to see you is harder... I guess it's all hard...)  I came up with a list of things that comfort me when you are gone:

- flaming hot cheetos (I can blame the runny nose and watery eyes on that I guess.)
- Dr. Pepper--aka liquid heaven
- pillows that smell like you
- the winking Christmas tree that we put up this weekend
- the Next Iron Chef
- wearing your Star Wars jacket
- watching Friends
- reading good books

And I did them all today.  I have to find new comforting things to do tomorrow.  Does homework count?

I love and miss you-

bored

Dear Colin-

This afternoon I was bored.  And, since I didn't want to work on my paper, I decided to look at movie trailers.  Snow White and the Huntsman looks creepy, Mirror Mirror makes me think of Stardust, but this trailer:

THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!

Maybe it was a mistake cuz now all I want to do is read the books. I am so excited.  Can we go to the midnight showing? (do they do that out here?)

Conceited

Dear Colin-

I read a blog post by Rodney Smith the other day and I love it because he describes my uppity view perfectly--and he has more right to it, considering he is incredible at what he does:

"The term photographer, as well as the word artist are both sacred to me. They are so overused and violated that they almost feel like curse words that need to be expunged from the vocabulary. They have grown to denote and connote nothing. Everyone who picks up a camera is a photographer, and everyone who paints, draws, sculpts, or doesn’t even work is an artist.

To be a photographer implies a calling, a dedication, an ability to expose oneself in a way very few people have the capacity or courage to do. If one ever becomes a photographer, it is as if one has won the Nobel Prize.

At any one time there are only a few people in the world that are photographers. True, there are hundreds of thousands (if not millions) who take pictures but these are not photographers."

I know.  It seems a bit high and mighty.  But I am totally with him.

You are married to a snob.  I'm sorry.

Love from your snooty wife-
Amy
